112 – Deftones, Idles, Public Enemy and Svalbard

It’s a big week … possibly even the biggest week of the year thus far as we review new albums by Deftones, Idles, Public Enemy, Svalbard, Anna von Hausswolff and The Ocean.
On top of all that, Remfry and Steve discuss the terrific 2000Trees announcement, the sad circumstances that have led to the hiatus of Anathema and Steve reviews NoFX’s livestream ‘performance’ of their 1992 White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean.

68 – Bubblewrap Back

It’s part 2 of our end-of-year catch up and this week, Steve’s curated a compelling and varied list of musical artistes including Health, Show Me The Body, Snow Ghosts, Port Noir, Ashbringer, Life of Agony, Throes, JPEGMafia, Kim Gordon and Nile.

Also this week, Remfry went to see Fever 333, Steve went to see Leprous, there’s a discussion about The Ghost Inside’s big comeback show at Brixton Academy and for the first time, possibly ever, the guys say something bad about Tool.

30 – My Kingdom for a Tooth

Remfry’s a little err … spaced out this week after a last minute trip to The Netherlands with ‘most horrible band in the music industry’ Conjurer has left him slightly frazzled. Oh and his tooth ruddy hurts! Steve’s alright though, although he does have a bee in his bonnet about early 00s indie rock. Too right frankly … it’s all s**t!

Elsewhere Stephen and Remfry review new albums by Dream Theater, The Specials and Minors and trade-off comes courtesy of Adebisi Shank and The Bravery.

16 – Frettin’ About Threatin (feat. Emma Ruth Rundle)

On this week’s episode of Riot Act there is plenty to be worried about. Steve is worried about Remfry’s drinking habit, the state of the world in general, and the sound of the new Muse album which is reviewed alongside the latest albums from Thom Yorke, Can’t Swim and The Ocean. There is respite from the furrowed brows in both The Trade Off, where we exchange superlatives about both Killing Joke’s Absolute Dissent and The Illusion Of Democracy by Reflux, and Remfry sat down for a stress free chat with the excellent Emma Ruth Rundle. But the most pressing concern comes from the bizarre and labyrinthian tale of infamous alt-rock troll Jared Threatin and his “band” Threatin, which is discussed at length… Spoiler, we never do get to the bottom of it.
