Summer rolls on and the big albums keep a-coming as Steve and Remfry review new releases from Bon Iver, Frank Turner, Sleater-Kinney, Killswitch Engage and Feeder. They also discuss the possibility of Slipknot having their first no.1 album for 18 years and Steve reports back from his favourite festival in the world Bloodstock, including live reviews of Parkway Drive, Soulfly, TesseracT, Anthrax, Cancer Bats, Soilwork, Lotus Eater, Boss Keloid, Thy Art is Murder, The Wildhearts and Sabaton.
This week Steve and Remfry discuss the ‘controversy’ around the completely uncontroversial decision to let Parkway Drive headline the Saturday night of Bloodstock. Steve certainly doesn’t think it’s a bad idea after seeing their attempt to blow up London’s Alexandra Palace. Remfry plumped for a slightly smaller show with around 10,250 less people in attendance for Ithaca’s album launch show at East London’s fashionable end in the East of London which is so very fashionable because it’s East London and fashionable Old Blue Last in Shoreditch.
Album reviews come courtesy of Ian Brown, Bob Mould and Astronoid and the trade–off covers two albums at very different ends of the musical spectrum in the form of ‘Good To Feel’ by Candy and ‘30-Something’ by Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine.
It’s a bumper live review episode of Riot Act this week as Stephen and Remfry have spent the last week seeing… well, pretty much band ever! From Pianos Become The Teeth to Danzig, from Larry And His Flask to Iron Maiden, and all culminating in a full review of Bloodstock Open Air, the UK’s premier metal festival.
We also review the new album from Foxing, take a retrospective look at Ian Brown’s Music Of The Spheres and Sigur Rós’ Kveikur, and we try to recite the alphabet backwards… although no one really knows why.
