126 – Paul McCartney, Deftones, The Dirty Nil, Cazador

It’s our first review show of 2021, but as is often the case at the beginning of the year, there aren’t all that many new releases worth talking about, so instead, Remfry and Steve review some of the big hitters from the end of 2020 that they missed due to Album of the Year shenanigans, including new releases from Paul McCartney, Deftones, The Dirty Nil and Cazador.

Sadly things aren’t as quiet on the news front as we pay tribute to two musicians who both passed away recently; underground hip-hop rapper MF Doom and Children of Bodom guitarist / vocalist Alexi Laiho. Plus we get political after photographs of Iced Earth guitarist Jon Schaffer are circulated showing him to be one of the protestors at the US Capitol siege.

112 – Deftones, Idles, Public Enemy and Svalbard

It’s a big week … possibly even the biggest week of the year thus far as we review new albums by Deftones, Idles, Public Enemy, Svalbard, Anna von Hausswolff and The Ocean.
On top of all that, Remfry and Steve discuss the terrific 2000Trees announcement, the sad circumstances that have led to the hiatus of Anathema and Steve reviews NoFX’s livestream ‘performance’ of their 1992 White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean.

S23 – Covers Special #1

Remfry and Steve return to an idea as old as Riot Act itself as they pick 8 covers each to discuss over almost 3 hours. The songs that bands decide to cover and the way that they cover them can tell you a lot about the band itself, something that the boys dissect at length.

Together, they look at covers of songs by the likes of The Beatles, Refused, The Prodigy, Nina Simone, Sunny Day Real Estate, Pink Floyd, Kate Bush, Nirvana, Iron Maiden, Weezer, Deftones, The Police, Killing Joke and Frank Sinatra
